How to change brake linings and wear sensor in BMW (For example, BMW E39)

1. Select a flat surface and put the car in gear
2. open the brake fluid expansion tank under the hood and check level
need didnot close him
3. Loosen the bolts on the wheel
4. lift your car with via jack and put something for safety

5. Turn off bolts and remove a wheel

6. Remove the bracket with a screwdriver

7.On the back of the caliper there are guide bolts that secure the caliper, they are protected by caps (anthers), remove the caps



The same on the bottom of the caliper, pull out both plugs (anthers)
8. Disconnect the brake linings wear sensor

If you see this inscription on the dashboard, then do not be afraid to damage the sensor, it is already damaged and needs to be replaced.
The car has 2 sensors, one located on the front left axis of the car, the other on the rear right
9. Unscrew the caliper guides


10. Remove the caliper

11. Wipe brake cylinder; WD-40 can be applied

12. Pour a little engine oil under the cylinder with a syringe

13. Push the cylinder


14. Remove the brake disc and put on a new one.
15. Put brackets
16. Insert new linings


17. Put the caliper in place

18.Install a new sensor
It should be inserted into the lining like this


19.Secure the caliper with the guide bolts
20.Add maximum brake fluid to the brake fluid expansion tank
